A recent study published in the American Aesthetic Surgery journal has been
able to answer many questions raised in the clinical literature and by the US
Food and Drug Administration with regard to patient satisfaction with breast
implants and the impact of augmentation on quality of life.
The survey which is the first of its kind, was conducted online over a period of
6months and was completed by more than four thousand women, of whom more than
half had already received breast implants and the rest were seriously
considering augmentation. It clearly showed that breast implants don't just
augment the breasts but their confidence as well.
More than 80% women with breast implants said that the surgery boosted their
confidence and self esteem in a big way.
Nearly all women (92%) who received implants thought the surgery improved their
overall appearance.
The surgery also allowed them to expand their wardrobe! It also pointed out that
like all cosmetic surgeries it should not be expected to guarantee stability in
relationships as the surgery did not result in significant changes in their
marriage/dating activities, careers, or social lives although majority felt that
it did improve their sexual life.
Cosmetic plastic surgery represents the desire to have other people react to us
in a more positive way. Instead of labeling this desire pathologic, we should
recognize it as a healthy awareness of reality. The answer lies in the
redefinition of medicine from a field that endeavors to make people well to one
that makes them happy.
So if you are one of them who always wanted to have a good cleavage but were not
sure if the breast implants were meant for you, these results might just
convince you to see a Plastic surgeon for the correct advise. After all, the
implants have now been shown to boost not just the bust!
